How to Rock an All-Over Print Button-Up Without Looking Like Your Uncle at a Luau

All-over print button-ups have a reputation problem. Somewhere between Tommy Bahama and that one uncle who wears the same parrot shirt to every family barbecue, the printed button-up became a punchline.

But here's the thing: when you pick the right print and style it intentionally, an all-over print shirt is one of the most versatile pieces you can own. It's bold without being formal, fun without being sloppy, and it works in way more situations than you'd think.

The Shirts

Let's start with what we're working with:

  • Morning Glory Button-Up — coffee cups and donuts on a premium all-over print. It's breakfast energy in shirt form.
  • No Problemo Button-Up — tacos, cacti, and a whole lot of personality. Tropical meets Tex-Mex and it works.

Both come in men's and women's sizing (S through 4X) and are printed on premium fabric by US-based partners. These aren't your uncle's shirts.

How to Style Them: 5 Looks

1. The Casual Weekend

Wear it unbuttoned over a black tee with dark jeans or joggers. Sleeves rolled once at the cuff. Clean sneakers. This is your "running errands but still looking good" outfit. The print adds personality without trying too hard.

2. The Date Night

Button it up (leave the top button open), tuck it into dark slim-fit pants, and add clean boots or leather sneakers. The shirt becomes the statement piece and everything else stays minimal. You look like you put in effort without looking like you tried too hard — which is the entire goal of getting dressed for a date.

3. The Beach / Pool Day

This is the printed button-up's natural habitat. Wear it fully open over swim trunks with sunglasses and slides. Here's where the uncle comparison is actually a compliment. Own it.

4. The Office (Casual Friday)

Hear us out. Buttoned up with chinos and loafers, the Morning Glory reads as "creative professional" not "vacation mode." The coffee and donut print is practically work-appropriate. You're just expressing your love of the break room.

5. The Festival / Concert

Unbuttoned, sleeves rolled, over a tank or crop top. Add chunky sneakers and a crossbody bag. The No Problemo with its taco and cactus print is basically festival camouflage — you'll blend in with every other person who chose vibes over practicality.

The Rules (There Are Only Three)

  1. Keep everything else simple. The shirt is the star. Solid colors everywhere else. The moment you pair a printed shirt with printed pants, you've crossed into costume territory.
  2. Fit matters more than anything. A printed shirt that's too big looks like a muumuu. One that fits well looks intentional. If you're between sizes, size down for tucked-in looks and size up for layering.
  3. Confidence is the accessory. A printed button-up is not a subtle choice. If you wear it like you're apologizing for it, it'll look wrong. Wear it like you meant it — because you did.

When Not to Wear It

Job interviews (unless it's a creative agency). Funerals (unless specifically requested). Court appearances (your lawyer will thank us).

Everything else? Fair game.
